The New Products Showcase competition drew 695 tackle and accessories entries. Entries were judged by buyers and media representatives based on innovation, execution, workmanship and practicality.

Among the never-before-seen features in a flasher on the ICE-55 are a 6-color fiber optic display and a groundbreaking, exclusive LCD display.

Prior to the ICE-55, LCD displays were non-existent in extremely cold conditions. However, Humminbird’s LCD screen is engineered for peak performance in temperatures as cold at 20-degrees below zero Fahrenheit.

The LCD display also allows the ICE-55 to automatically adjust the depth scale, eliminating the guess work and estimation of depth scale overlays. Based on depth scales ranging from twenty to two hundred feet, the LCD display instantly shows an exact depth reading as a large, easily visible number, rather than a tic mark.

The 6-color fiber optic display on the ICE-55 Flasher gives ice anglers a greater distinction between targets in the water column. This gives ice fishermen the ability to distinguish between a weed shelf, school of baitfish or a trophy fish. However, if a more traditional 3-color display is preferred, the flasher also has two, 3-color palette options. ICE-55 users will also notice the model’s unique purple target line. Ice fishermen can set the target line at a specific depth so they know exactly what depth they should lower their jig.

A dual beam transducer (selectable 9 or 19 degrees) that allows the flashers to double the view of a specific depth range in the water column is yet another innovative ICE-55 feature. Other flashers only allow users to zoom in on the very bottom section of the water column. When ice fishermen press the zoom key, two tic marks bracket the area to be zoomed by 2x on the flasher display.

“This is the second time in three years that Humminbird has captured the ICAST Best of Show award in electronics,” Davison said. “This demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation and our desire to lead the way in providing anglers with state-of-the-art products.”

With the way boating accesories are now adays you could spend days going through the options for a trolling motor for your boat. I am going to try to help you narrow down your choices. You have to choose a 12v, 24v, or 36v system for the trolling motor. For those of you that know as much about electricity as I do 12v is one battery, 24v is two, and 36v is three batteries. The way to choose the power that you need is by how much your boat weighs and what you are doing with it. For small boats under 1000 lbs. a 12v system should work out fine. The Minn Kota Endura is great for a transom mount, but a Minn Kota Edge is more suited for the bow mount. For boats from 1000 lbs. to 2000 lbs. a 24v system is required, so the batteries will not run out quickly. For bass boats a bow mounted Minn Kota Maxxum would be a great choice, and then for a Deep V or multi species boat a Minn Kota PowerDrive or Minn Kota Terrova would be ideal. Now that you have chosen the correct power you need to look at shaft length. Minn Kota Motors makes Composite Trolling motor shafts from 36"- 60". The advantages of lenth depends on the draft and height of your boat. Larger boats like big walleye boats and Great lakes Bass boats, need the longer 54"- 60" shafts to keep the motor head in the water while bouncing in the waves. Where as the shorter 48" shaft is good for shallow water fishermen. Now onto the most important part of choosing a trolling motor, choosing the thrust. The thrust determines the force the motor excerts to pull the boat. The thrust ranges are from 36 lbs. to 101 lbs. Depending on the what you are using the boat for is what you need the thrust for.

Stopping the weight at water level eliminates the cable strain caused by a bouncing weight or a weight hitting the boom end, and it also keeps the weight from swinging into the boat hull. Performance Boat Props Make a Difference

Is a boat prop, just a prop? Absolutely, without a doubt, no. Take a 17 pitch boat propeller from 10 different manufacturers. Run them all on your boat, and you know what you'll get? Speed variance of up to 8 mph and rpm differences up to 600! But how is that possible, you ask? Because not all props are created equal! The difference is in the design!

Turning Point Propellers uses a sophisticated, scientific method in its designs. Variables such as rake, pitch progression, cupping, blade area and blade thickness of the blades all come into play. If a propeller is tuned correctly taking into account these variables, it will dramatically increase the overall performance.

But how can these marine propellers perform better than OEM props if they design them for their motors? How are they better than Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo, Evinrude, Honda, Suzuki, or OMC propellers - It's relatively easy. Turning Point tests the performance of all boat props and makes sure that they run better than OEM and aftermarket props. Of course a Turning Point may not run the fastest on every boat, but to say it is the fastest 9 times of 10 is fair. Turning Point designs its aluminum and stainless steel boat propellers to not only run fast, but also provide superior handling on sharp turns at high speeds. Once you get your new Turning Point prop, give it a good strong test, and you'll see and feel the difference.

Through prop testing, we've identified some of the worst performing propellers. On the aftermarket side, Michigan Wheel props have proven time and time again to be the worst props for speed, acceleration, handling and fuel economy. The worst OEM prop, sharing the same bad traits as the Michigan prop, is Yamaha aluminum props. They are so poorly designed, that we couldn't even turn the boat without it ventilating. The only way to make that prop hook up with the water again was to back off the throttle.

By far, no comparision, if you want a good running prop, Turning Point Propellers is the best option.

The manually adjusting smart trim tabs are stable until you physically adjust them. The nitrogen gas actuators provide lift at the stern of the boat by holding the trim plate down during acceleration. The amount of lift is determined by the actuator load rating and the trim plate adjustment, which is done at the time of installation. As the boat accelerates, the water pushes up on the trim plates providing lift to the stern which minimizes bow rise, and allows the boat to plane quickly.

The constant adjustment to sea conditions allow Nauticus trim tabs to provide remarkable stability in turns, while crossing waves, cruising, and running at maximum speeds. No more sliding, porpoising, or chine walking. The dampen reaction of the actuators senses changes in water pressure to provide smooth and undetectable reaction changes.

Nauticus vs. Other Brands:
While most other trim tabs offer increased performance, Nauticus offers key advantages over competitive brands. The first is the relative ease of installation. Smart tabs can be installed by the average boater in less than an hour using simple tools (screwdriver, wrench, and a drill). Each easily mounts to either side of the transom with attachment hardware included in the box.
